Robert L. Tague, Jr., 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Waldron Health and Rehab in Waldron.
Born March 27, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Robert L. Sr. and Alli Rae (Decker) Tague. He married Terri L. Conway on December 14, 1979, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Kimberley Haste-Tague of Lanesville and Julie Clary (husband, Juan) Galicia of Indianapolis; sons, Rex Tague of Columbus and Scott Tague of Carolina; brother, Tom (wife, Mildred) Tague of Virginia; and grandchildren, D.J. Haste of Lanesville, Jose and Julio Nava, Jesse, Jr., Jessica, Daisy and Anna Guerrero, all of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold “Debo” Tague; and sister, Beverly Rusher.
Mr. Tague formerly worked for Overhead Door in Shelbyville, and retired as a foreman for Excel Corporation in 1980, after six years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Shelbyville American Legion.
He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking and babysitting. The “special kids” that he babysat for were Teresa Barrows, Nikki Caffee, Angel Fox Brown, Jennifer Strate, Christopher Piercy, Casey Montgomery, Trystin and C.J. Doremus, Joseph and Matthew Hood, Jose Nava Jr., Julio Nava and Jesse, Junior, Jessica, Daisy and Anna Guerrero.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Ronnie Caine officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local military committee.
Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
