Robert Lee "Bob" Sanders

Robert L. “Bob” Sanders, 88, of Gwynneville, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born August 20, 1926, in Shelby County, the son of Gillard and Bertha (Riggs) Sanders. On July 4, 1954, he married his wife of 60 years, Phyllis M. Bogue, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Nancy Stevens and husband, J. Mark, of Lafayette; sister, Helen Sullivan of Columbus; brother, Don Sanders and wife, Jessie, of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Zelma Tucker of Shelbyville; nephews, Mike Sullivan and wife, Brenda, Chip Sullivan and significant other, Audria, Terry Sullivan and wife, Jane, Kevin Sullivan and significant other, Joy, Thomas Kevin Sanders and wife, Susan, Dave Warfield, Donnie Warfield, Wayne Tucker and wife, Terry and Jack Tucker; and nieces, Sandy Talkington and husband, Bob, Barbara Ann Lynn and Debbie Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine Warfield; and brothers, Tom Sanders and Clarence Sanders. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a farmer and had formerly worked at Borden Dairy, Manilla Grain Elevator and retired from Gwynneville Feed and Seed. Bob was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 766 in Shelbyville. He also leaves behind his cat, Slim. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, with military graveside services conducted by the local military committee.
