Robert Leon "Bob" Mattox, 67, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, at his home.
Born November 26, 1940, in Freedom, he was the son of Harry L. and Gwen (Brewster) Mattox. He married Chestlene "Chess" Lawless of August 7, 1883, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Travis (wife, Laura) Mattox of Franklin and Brian Scott Mattox of Ninevah; stepson, Kenny Hill of Greenfield; stepdaughters, Patricia Johnson of Portland, Tenn., Debra Magee of Knightstown, Brenda Catey of New Castle and Michelle Wilson of Greenwood; sister, Darlene Overbey of Geist; grandchildren, Allie Mattox and Matt Mattox; and 13 step-grandchildren; and two great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Mattox was a truck driver and was employed at Shelby Material for the last year.
He attended Rays Crossing Christian Union Church and was a member of the Coffee Club at Chaperral Cafe.
Mr. Mattox enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, horseback riding. He was an Indiana University fan and a prankster. He loved music and could play about any instrument and sing.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.,
Funeral srvices will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Simpson officiating.
Cremation will follow.
