Robert Murrell

September 29, 1941 — January 4, 2013

Robert Murrell, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Major Hospital surrounded by his family. Born September 29, 1941, in Columbia, Kentucky, he was the son of Fred and Carrie (Hawkins) Murrell. He married Stella Brown on October 20, 1962, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2003. Survivors include his sons, Donnie Murrell of Shelbyville and Billy Murrell; daughter, Margaret Zinter of Brimington, Washington; sisters, Joyce Aulby, Marilyn Burks, Alice Chance and Sharon Murrell, all of Shelbyville and one granddaughter. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Timothy Murrell; daughter, Pam Theobald; brothers, Archie Murrell, Elzy Murrell and Elmer Murrell; and sisters, Martha Holland, and Dorthy Murrell. Mr. Murrell retired from Classic Auto Center in 2004, after 41 years of service. He was a member of Baptist Temple. Robert enjoyed tinkering with automobiles and fishing Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ian Farnsley officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Association of Shelby County, P.O. Box 844, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
