Robert J. "Bob" Perkinson, 80, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, June 2, 2008 at his home.
Born January 29, 1928, in Indianapolis, he was the son of George T. Sr. and Delmo (Surface) Perkinson. He married Patricia L. "Patty" Perkinson on May 27, 1950, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Mike (wife, Linda) Perkinson of Ocala, Florida, and Doug (wife, Faith) Perkinson of Shelbyville; daughter, Sherri (husband, Don) Linsenbach of Nashville; sister, Judy (husband, Dave) Hollander of Attica; grandchildren, Nathan Perkinson of Greencastle, Craig Perkinson, Joseph Perkinson, Sandrina Perkinson and Nicholas Perkinson, all of Shelbyville, and Devin Linsenbach of Sarasota, Florida; and a great-grandson, Garrett Perkinson of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, George T. Perkinson Jr. and Raymond "Skippy" Perkinson.
Mr. Perkinson had been a mchinist at KT corp. for 20 years and at Dean Steel in Fort Myers, Florida, for 20 years, retiring in 2005. He previously had been a meat cutter in Boggstown.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps vteran, station in San Franciso, California and Japan from 1946 to 1948.
Mr. Perkinson graduated from Boggstown High School in 1946.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 70.
Mr. Perkinson enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid auto racing fan and a "True Blue" Colts fan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 s. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
