Robert “Wayne” Weintraut, 69, of Kokomo, formerly of Kimmell, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.
He was born August 27, 1946 in Shelbyville, the son of Robert Joseph and Olivet Leota (Stamn) Weintraut. He married Kathleen “Kathy” (Schroers) Sinclair on January 14, 2011 and she survives.
Wayne is also survived by his sons, Dustin Wade Weintraut of Shelbyville, and James Robert Weintraut of Clayton; stepdaughters, Janell Sinclair and husband, Michael, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Veronica Kramer and husband, Kyle, of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Tyler Weintraut, Ashlie Koth, James Weintraut Jr., Elexis Weintraut, Raylene Weintraut, and stepgrandchildren, Jordan Sinclair, Rachel Sinclair and Paxton Kramer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wayne graduated from Waldron High School in 1964.
He served as a Master Sergeant in the Indiana Army National Guard, retiring in 2000, with 30 years of service.
He was a life member of the National Guard Association of Indiana.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.
