Ronald Dale “Ronnie” George, 67, of Waldron, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
He was born March 10, 1949 in Shelby County, the son of Lincoln R. and Mary Lee (Stader) George. On July 6, 1983, he married Janet L. “Jan” Stocklin, and she survives.
Ronnie is also survived by his step-sons, Keith Allen Stocklin of Shelbyville and Bradley W. Stocklin of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Teresa Renee Donnar and husband, Ted, of Greenwood; sisters, Linda Dile and husband, Woody, of Greensburg, Del Ann Bales and husband, Gary, of Shelbyville, and Fay Lynn Marshall of Waldron; brothers, Steve George and wife, Dee, of North Vernon, and Jim George and wife, Judy, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Breanna Hogan and husband, Nick, Holli Stocklin, Mandi Stocklin, Chrissy Thorne and husband, Ross, Benjamin Erickson, Jacob Stocklin and Jordan Stocklin; great-grandchildren, Sam Hogan, Max Hogan, Tanner Thorne and Tessa Thorne; and several nieces and nephews, including Maggie Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronnie graduated from Waldron High School in 1968, and Reisch School of Auctioneering.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Enterprise.
Ronnie was a member of Trinity Holiness Tabernacle in Trafalgar, where he devotedly cared for the church and its landscaping.
He was a lifelong farmer. Ronnie formerly worked at the Indianapolis Stock Yard, and was a livestock dealer and trader. He retired from the Shelby County Highway Department in 2014.
Ronnie loved going out to eat with his friends, and he also enjoyed gardening with them.
Ronnie loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed each moment of the precious time he got to spend with them, especially the time spent 4-wheeling and playing.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Trinity Holiness Tabernacle, 2364 E. State Road 252 in Franklin, IN 46131.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Brother Jerome Baker officiating.
Interment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
