Ronald Wayne Rayl, 74, of Wilkinson, passed away, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born October 4, 1939, in Rushville, the son of Dorothy Alice (Willson) Rigdon.
On May 9, 1981, he married Sandra Kay Wise, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, David F. (wife, Kelly) Creekmore of Helotes, Texas and Marcus S. (significant other, Deanna Grizzell) of Knightstown; sister, Reatha Shaw of Ingalls; brother, Albert “Butch” (wife, Sue) Rayl of Freeport; grandchildren, Kaylee Creekmore, Clayton Creekmore, Macy Creekmore, Peyton Creekmore, Preslie Creekmore and Abby Buckley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; step-father, Ralph Rigdon; son, Samuel Creekmore; and sister, Dede Hauk.
Ronald graduated from Morristown High School in 1957.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
Ronald was a member of the Morristown Christian Church, Marine Corp. League, Subic Bay Marines and the Knightstown American Legion.
He was a painter, working as a subcontractor.
Ronald loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, history and nature.
Visitation will be from 10 am to noon, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at noon, Wednesday at the funeral home, with Steve Ray and Bill Farmer officiating.
Interment will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corp. League, in care of the funeral home.
