Ronnie Ival Coy, 58, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2010 in Shelby County.
Born September 9, 1951, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Ival George and Bertha Mae (Abel) Coy. He married Mila Jo "Jody" Bassett Coy on August 15, 981, and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2009.
Survivors include his parents of Flat Rock; daughters, Cari Lei (husband, Josh) Robinson and Leisa Marie (husband, Dustin) Roberts, all of Shelbyville; son, Brent Alan Coy of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Erik M. Coy, Mackenzie J. Robinson, Mariah L. Robinson, Tyson N. Robinson, Garrett A. Roberts, Emma G. Roberts and Adyson N. Roberts.
Mr. Coy had been the department manager at J.G. DePrez Hardware from 1969 to 1976; employed at Trans Med Inc. from 1970 to 1976, and became president on October 1, 1976; director of Central Indiana Ambulance Association. He had held a state certification as an emergency medical technician since 1977 and currently served on the Indiana State Board of Health and worked at Freeman Family Funeral Homes. He was the Washington Township Democrat vice precinct committeeman.
He was formerly an American Heart Association CPR instructor and instructor trainer; and Shelby County American Red Cross CPR instructor and instructor trainer, first aid instructor, and disaster chairman in the 1970s.
Mr. Coy graduated from Southwestern High School in 1969.
He was a member of Indiana Ambulance Association, Llama Association, American Ambulance Association, Sons of the American Legion Manilla Volunteer Fire Department, a 10-year member of Southwestern 4-H Club in the 1960s. He was a former past president of Flat Rock Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Stephens officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
