Ronnie “Joe” Conway, 68, a lifelong Shelbyville resident, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 9, 1947, in Shelbyville, the son of Norman D. and Lillian J. (McIntyre) Conway. On January 28, 1967, he married his wife of 49 years, Lynn Sue Sipes, and she survives.
Joe is also survived by brothers, Timothy Conway and wife, Janice, and Danny Conway and wife, Terri, both of Shelbyville; and sister, Linda D. Conway, of Shelbyville; sister-in-laws, Susan Conway of Columbus, and Gail Bratcher and husband, Joe, of Caneyville, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Michael Sipes and wife, Debra, of Shelbyville; nephews, Nic Conway, Travis Conway, Ronnie Compton and Craig Sipes; nieces, Tami Talkington, Brittany Conway and Jennifer Fortune; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David L. Conway.
Joe graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1967.
He worked at GE/Wellman from 1966 to 2003, and then at Toray Resin Co. from 2003 until retiring in 2009.
Joe enjoyed fishing with his buddies, Gene Goodwin, Steve Bullard and Mark Davis.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with Travis Conway officiating.
