Ronnie Smith, 51, of Flat Rock, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at his home. Born April 13, 1955, in Franklin, he was the son of Fred and Lois (Bunch) Smith. He married Markita K. Hatton on April 6, 1996, and she survives. Other survivors include his mother of Carthage; six sons, Joe S. (wife, Misty) Smith of Buckley, Wash., Shawn C. (wife, Marrisa) Smith of Lake Steven, Wash., Nicholas E. Smith of Carmel, Zachery D. Smith of Warsaw, Blake J. Smith and Dylan R. Smith, both of Flat Rock; five brothers, James (wife, Evelyn) Smith of Franklin, Carl (wife, Irene) Smith of Morristown, Herbie (wife, Sharon) Smith of Warsaw, Allen (wife, Sue) Smith of Milroy and David (wife, Patty) Smith of Knightstown; four sisters, Mary (husband, Norm) Jones of Knightstown, Peggy (husband, Donnie) Stephens of Carthage, Mildred (husband, Jim) White of New Castle and Brenda (husband, Ollie) Deweese of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Kennedy Smith, Ava Smith and Kedrin Smith; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and caregivers, Linda Sullivan, Tisha Jones and Nancy Myers. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Smith was an electrician and employed with National Work Construction in Indianapolis. He previously was employed at Gaylor and Smoker Craft and Rock Tin Paper Mill in Eaton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Smith graduated from Knightstown High School. He was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.; and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lewis Creek Baptist Church, 5998 S. State Road 9 Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County. Online condolences may be sent to www.freemanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
