Rose Mary "Rosie" Brinson

Rose Mary “Rosie” Brinson, 82, a lifelong Shelbyville resident, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born April 13, 1932 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Tillison) Mentzer. She married Paul R. “Slim” Brinson on January 11, 1966, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2010. Rosie is survived by her sister, Violet Jean McKay of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James L. Mentzer and Thomas W. Mentzer; and sisters, Maxine Auxier and Alice Mae Popplewell. Rosie was a member of the former Vine Street United Methodist Church and Shelby Senior Services. She worked in various restaurants including the Chaperral Café. Rosie enjoyed walking and going to church. She was an avid cat lover and a good person. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Senior Services, 1504 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
