Ruby Kathleen Coulston, 94, a lifelong resident of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Major Hospital.
She was born November 27, 1918, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Edward and Mary Lucy “Lula” (Mann) Jarboe. Kathleen married Charles A Coulston on December 25, 1941, and he preceded her in death on September 10, 1990.
She is survived by her only daughter, Janet (husband, Gary) Wagoner of Kettering, Ohio; grandson, Paul Coulston Wagoner of Boston, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Wagoner of Mission, Kansas; brother-in-law, Lawrence Gael Coulston of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Thomas of Inverness, Florida; nephews, Charles H. Coulston, Rev. James Coulston, John Coulston, David Mohr and Donald Mohr; and cousins, Barbara (husband, Mike) Thomas and Gloria Glackman.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Dale Mohr.
Kathleen graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1935. She was the former Treasurer of Shelbyville Central Schools.
She was a 79 year member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess.
Kathleen was also a member of Business and Professional Women’s Club, past secretary of Zonta Club, Junior Coterie, Indiana Library Trustees Association, an honorary member of Indiana Association of School Business Officials, past president and honorary member of Indiana Association of Education Secretaries, National Association of Educational Office Professionals (active and retired groups), Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Scottish Rite Ladies Auxiliary, Murat Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, Knights Templar Ladies Auxiliary, an associate member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Friendly Fenns Home Economics Club.
She also served on Shelby County Tax Review Board, Shelbyville Board of Zoning Appeals and was past president of Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library Board.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the funeral home, with Rev. James Coulston and Pastor David Love officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
