Russel M. Sailing, 75, of Horse Shoe, North Carolina passed away peacefully at Elizabeth House on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
He was born in Caldwell, OH on September 2, 1937.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army attaining the rank of first lieutenant.
In 1960 he graduated from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH).
He worked as an accountant/manager for the Chevrolet Motor Division in Ohio and Michigan for 34 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Freeman Sailing, and daughter, Roberta; brothers, Ronald and Roger Sailing and brother-in-law, Lloyd Freeman of Milan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Edgar and Edna Sailing, and sister, Marleen Oswald.
He was a communicant at Immaculate Conception in Hendersonville, NC.
He was an avid sports fan and dedicated viewer of Gunsmoke.
He enjoyed his poker club and his travels, especially to Australia and our national parks.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers at Pardee Hospital and Elizabeth House.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mud Pike Cemetery in Osgood, Indiana with Rev. Jack Bible officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Milan American Legion.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison Street in Shelbyville, Indiana.
