Ruth Ann Smith

Ruth Ann Smith, 81, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Hospice of South Central indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Born November 25, 1927, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of W. Herbert and Pearl (Davison) Wagner. She married Dale W. Smith, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, David L. (wife, Sharon) Smith of Shelbyville; daughters Barbara A. (husband Dale) Kesterman of Shelbyville and Jennifer Mann; Grandchildren Melissa McDaniel, Adrianne Higgins, Bric Kesterman, Matt Barton and Ryan Mann; step-grandchildren R. Scott Lasley, Tracy Lasley and Lori Perkins; great-grandchildren Aaron Sanders, Emory Higgins, Tyre Barton and Emma Barton; and several step Great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation Club, Bear Square Dance Club, Village Square Dance Club, Moose Women's Auxiliary and a euchre group. Visition will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Horner officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
