Ruth Harris died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Morristown Manor in Morristown, Indiana the age of 91.
Ruth Bentley Harris was born July 27, 1919 in Vigo County, Indiana as the third of five (5) children to Lawrence and Alma (LaForge) Bentley. She married Oliver Carvin Harris on September 11, 1936, and he preceded her in death on February 6, 1982.
Survivors include her children, Linda L. Johnson of Morristown, Dale C. (wife, Bonnie) Harris of Fairland and Danny R. (wife, Sandy) Harris of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Marietta Carlton, Laura Shannon, Melissa Woolard, Nicky Linn Harris, Cindy Harris, Kay Anne Gettelfinger, Brian Harris and Jeremy Harris; great-grandchildren, Elliott Shannon, Bradley Woolard, Zachary Woolard, Jacob Carlton, Ashlee Harris, Connor Shannon, Kaylin Carlton, Rachel Hutchinson, Heath Carlton, Cameron Hutchinson and Noah Woolard; and sister-in-law, Margeurite Fox of Indianapolis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bradley Harris; son-in-law, Duane Johnson and siblings, Ray, Vivian, Max and Betty.
Mrs. Harris resided most of her life in Hancock and Shelby County, Indiana.
She was a member of the Fountaintown Methodist Church and employed by Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana for 23 years as a surgery nurse.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 East North Street in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Bill Farmer officiating.
Interment will be in Fountaintown Cemetery.
