Ruth Marie Vollrath Roberts

Ruth Vollrath Roberts, 61, of Shelbyville departed Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. Born August 5, 1948, she was the daughter of Victor J. M.D. and Isabelle (Burnside)Vollrath. She married Larry J. Robertson November 21, 1971, and he survives. Other survivors include her parents of Indianapolis; daughters, Melissa B. Roberts (husband, Dr. Mark Greiner) of Sacramento, California; Elizabeth G. Roberts (husband, Kent Jolly) and Emily H. Roberts, both of Berkeley, California; sisters, Jean Vollrath of Staley, North Carolina and Dona (husband, Robert) Taylor of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Naomi Greiner, Levi Roberts Greiner, Audrey Jolly and Sarah Jolly; and parents-in-law, Pearl and Joe Roberts of Anderson. Mrs. Roberts lived in Indianapolis prior to moving to Shelbyville in 1997. She was coordinator of Rights and Reproduction at the Indianapolis Museum of Art for the past 20 years. Mrs. Roberts graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis in 1966 and DePauw University in 1970, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She was a member of Shelbyville Woman's Club, Shelby County Arts Guild Association and Main Street Association. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Jan Tackitt officiating. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Strand Theatre, 215 S. Harrison St., with Rabbi Weiss and the Rev. Jan Tackitt officiating.
