Ruth McMichael

Ruth McMichael, 86, of Shelbyville, formerly of Claypool, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2012 at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born September 6, 1925, in Lee County, Virginia, she was the daughter of James R. and America Mae (Stapleton) Harber. She married Tom E. McMichael and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her sisters, Jeanette Wheeler of Shelbyville, Nancy Byrd of Pennington Gap, Virginia and Georgeanna West of Havre, Montana; brother, Bobby G. Harber of Kingsport, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews including Barbara Bramwell Thompson of Mesa, Arizona, Jack Wheeler and Danny Wheeler of Shelbyville, Billy Joe (wife, Berniece) Wheeler of Gallatin, Tennessee and Dr. Marc Hays of Plainfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alberta ?Pat? Thompson, Elena Harber, Cuma Hays and Stella Myers; and brothers, Dennis and Tunis Harber. Mrs. McMichael retired from RCA in Indianapolis in 1965. Ruth was the family angel, being the caretaker for the family. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, with Marc Hays officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
