Ruth Raymond

Ruth Raymond, 84, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Major Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1920, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Leroy and Bernice Alice (Scott) Coyle. She married Paul L. Raymond on Nov. 6, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon L. (husband, Edwin) Yarling of Fairland and Karen J. Raymond of Shelbyville; one son, Michael C. Dover of Opelika, Ala.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Elmore, Tim Yarling, Danae Sponsel, Chris Yarling and Anthony Dover; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Raymond was a lifelong Shelby County resident. She was a hairdresser for most of her life. Mrs. Raymond attended beauty college at the approved university in Indianapolis. She helped found the former Shelbyville Hairdressers Association. Mrs. Raymond was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 34 W. Washington St. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Robert Campbell and Rick Miller officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 34 W. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176; Hospice of Shelby County, 110 S.
