Ruthann Smith, 78, of Greenfield passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
Born March 24, 1933 in Greenfield, Indiana, she was the daughter of George R. and Martha L. (Jeffries) Smith. She married William C. ?Bill? Smith on September 5, 1954, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2007.
Survivors include her sons, Earl R. ?Rusty? (wife, Barbara) Smith and Joe W. (wife, Pam Jack) Smith, both of Greenfield; daughter, Maribeth Ann (husband, Rick) Doughty of Richfield, North Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Michael Smith, Joe Smith II,Danyelle Cope and Dylan Jack.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Naomi Smith on July 25, 2008.
Mrs. Smith and her late husband owned and operated a dairy farm. She was a registered nurse at Hancock Regional Hospital from 1954 to 1961, she later worked at Morristown Manor, retiring from Regency Place.
She was a member of Shiloh Christian Church and enjoyed crafts and crocheting.
Visitation will be from 11am to 1 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will follow at 1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Fred Girwood officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
