Samme Kaye Gladson, 66, of Fairland passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove.
Born March 27, 1942, in Benham, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Samuel M. Cope and Eula Gertrude (Neely) Cope Harrell McCarty. She married C. E. "ed" Gladson on December 1, 1962, and he survives.
Other survivors include her daughters, Carla K. (husband, Isaac) Caton of Lexington, Kentucky, and Rebecca G. Gladson of Fairland; sister, Sandra F. Delk of Fairland; granddaughters, Sarah Caton and Kayela Caton, both of Lexington; niece, Sameia (husband, Jeff) Calhoun of Indianapolis; great-niece, Alleson Calhoun of Indianapolis; and great-nephew, Bruce Calhoun of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Gladson was a homemaker, mother and wife.
She graduated from Benham High School in Benham.
Mrs. Gladson was a member of Fairland United Methodist Church, where she participated in Bible study and was worship chairperson for 10 years; and Fairland Order of Eastern Star No. 359, where she was a past matron.
She constantly studied the Bible and enjoyed music.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairland United Methodist Church, 205 W. Washington St. in Fairland, with the Revs. Susan Davis and Jeff Zirkle officiating.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
