Sandra Kay Johnson, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022, at her son’s home.
She was born September 6, 1939, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Harold and Ruby (Victor) Boring. On September 7, 1957, she married Jack Johnson, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2001.
Sandra is survived by her sons, Jeffrey B. Johnson and wife, Dotie, of Huntsville, Alabama, Eric W. Johnson of Greenwood, and Curt Johnson and wife, Amy, of Shelbyville; sister, Diane Pennington and husband, Steve, of Des Moines, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to Jack, Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra L. Johnson; son, Randy Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Aimee Johnson.
Sandra graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1957 from Shelbyville High School.
She was an executive secretary for Caterpillar, retiring with over 40 years of service.
Sandra enjoyed traveling and retained a lifelong interest in harness racing from her father.
Sandra was a member of the Red Hat Club.
She also leaves behind her dog, Bridget.
Sandra was a vibrant, intelligent woman who made an impact on all with whom she interacted. She will be loved and missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 South Harrison Street in Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue in Shelbyville.
