Sarah Ruth Paxton, 71, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Major Hospital.
Born August 26, 1941, in LaFollette, Tennessee, she was the daughter of George and Sallie Helen (Mynatt) Wilhoit. She married Kenneth Paxton, Jr. on June 19, 1964, and he preceded her in death on August 9, 2006.
Survivors include her daughters, Debra Lee (husband, Charles Gene) Helfer, Theresa Lynn (husband, Kevin) Hopper, Angela Kay (husband, Gary) Paxton-Badgley and Kimberly LaChelle (husband, Jay Alan) Paxton-Young, all of Shelbyville; brothers, Dean (wife, Naomi) Wilhoit and Charlie Wilhoit, both of LaFollette, Tennessee; grandchildren, Charles Andrew Helfer, Eryn RaChele Hopper, Kenneth Zackary Hopper, Damon Jackson Badgley and Logan Paxton Young; step-grandchildren, Nicole Ann (husband, Shane) Pike, Jessica Lynn (husband, Joshua) Tucker, Jessika Anne (husband, Jess) Ford and Joshua Paul Young; step-greatgrandchildren, Makinsi Pike, Kameron Tucker, Alexys Tucker, Kendryk Pike and Chandler Tucker.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Wilhoit, Jr.; and a sister, Nancy Lucille Wilhoit.
Sarah attended Jacksboro High School in Tennessee.
She was a homemaker, waitress at Central Café and the bookkeeper for Paxton Trucking.
Sarah attended First Christian Church, where she and Kenny were married.
She enjoyed bowling, line dancing and bingo. More than anything she loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at the funeral home, with Rev Harvey Weaver officiating.
Interment will be in Snyder Cemetery.
