Shirley A. Short

Shirley A. Short, 73, of Gwynneville, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born November 17, 1941 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Ora E. and Willa Beatrice (Carter) Smith. She married James E. Short in 1960, and he preceded her in death n March 17, 2002. Shirley is survived by her sons, Michael A. Short and wife, Brenda, of Greenfield, Jeffery N. Short and wife, Rachel, of Indianapolis, and Anthony M. Short and wife, Amber of Anderson; a sister, Sally Ham of Morristown; foster son, Kevin Goble of Morristown; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Kim Waltz of Morristown and Greg Smith of Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Smith. Shirley graduated from Morristown High School in 1960. She was a member of Gwynneville Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star Morristown Lodge No. 316, American Legion Auxilliary Post No. 102, and the Gwynneville Christian Church Ladies Aide. Shirley was formerly an activity director for several nursing homes. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, cake decorating and cooking. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at Gwynneville Christian Church in Gwynneville, with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the church. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St.in Morristown.
