Shirley Joan Bruce, 84, of Vevay, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
She was born May 23, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. On November 15, 1953, she married her husband of 63 years, Raymond Ambrose “Ray” Bruce, and he survives.
Shirley is also survived by her daughter, Kathy Gordon and husband, Dan, of Morristown; sons, Ray Bruce Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Fountaintown, Bill Randle and wife, Pam, of Greenfield, and Bob Randle and wife, Susan, of Missouri; sister, Gwendolyn Payne and husband, Dale, of Omaha, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Shirley worked at Hook’s Drug Store, now CVS, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star for over 20 years.
Shirley was an avid reader, she especially enjoyed historical romance novels. Shirley also enjoyed watching detective shows.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown, with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Eckart officiating.
Interment will be at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
