Shirley M. Qualkinbush

Shirley M. Qualkinbush, 77, of New Haven, former longtime Shelbyville resident, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Harborside Health Center in New Haven. Born May 2, 1929, in Ottumwa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Orville and Margaret Collett. Survivors include one daughter, Marcia (husband, Bob) Willey of New Haven; two sons, Edward C. (wife, Tammy) Qualkinbush of Chester, Va., and Benjamin C. Qualkinbush of Medford, Ore.; one brother, Bill Collett of Grinnell, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Charlotte Collier; and one brother, Darrell Collett. Ms. Qualkinbush was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was an avid golfer. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
