Silas Chaney

Silas Chaney, 68, of Fairland passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his home. Born December 10, 1939, in Jeff, Kentucky, he was the son of Walker Chaney and Clara (Brewer) Rice. He married Louise Francis on January 6, 1962, and she survives. Other survivorsinclude his son, Jeff (wife, Michelle) Chaney of Shelbyville; daughter, Lesley (husband, Terry) Carlisle of Greenfield; brothers, Paul and Jack; sisters, Bertha, Lois, Joan and Lilly; grandchildren Charissa, Andrea, Kory and Courtney; and great-grandchildren, Rilee and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy; and sister, Lula Mae. Mr. Chaney had been a plant supervisor at Weyerhaeuser in Indianapolis, formerly known as U.S. Corrugated, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Fairland Christian Church. A gathering of friends will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fairland Christian Church, 109 S. Mulberry St. in Fairland. Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Michael Rogers officiating. Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairland Christian Church, 109 S. Mulberry St., Fairland, IN 46126.
