Stephan G. Sever, 72, of Waldron passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Indianapolis.
He was born February 3, 1940 in Shelbyville to Garnett Sever and Betty J. (Grant) Sever. He married Sharon K. “Sherre” Stevens on August 12, 1962, and she survives. They were married 50 years.
Other survivors include his sons, Stephan G. (wife, Theresa) Sever II of Waldron and Timothy L. (wife, Sara) Sever of Avon; daughter, Anne P. (husband, Jim) Sever-Dimitri of Indianapolis; brother, Guy Sever of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Steve Sever, Kimberly Sever, Rebekah Sever, Cassidy A. Sever, Caitlin Sever and Kendall Sever; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stephan graduated from Waldron High School in 1958, Franklin College in 1962 and received his Master in Science from Emporia State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Kansas in 1966.
He was a member of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church, where he was an elder. Other memberships included Shelby County Historical Society, Waldron Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Big Scale Railroad Club in Noblesville.
Mr. Sever retired from teaching biology at Shelbyville High School in 2000, after 38 years of service.
He was a devoted father to his children and grandchildren, was a true gentleman, respectful husband, and loved caring for and spoiling his wife.
Stephan enjoyed traveling and staying in contact with his friends in Germany.
He liked cats and had many throughout the years.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer officiating.
Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
