Steven W. Holtel

Steven W. Holtel, 53, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital, in Beech Grove. Born June 9, 1951, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the George W. Holtel and Jean (Brooks) Osborne. Survivors include his mother of Shelbyville; one son, Jason Hensel of Beech Grove two sisters, Nancy (husband, James) Thurman of Fairland and Susan Jensen of Santa Fe, N.M.; and three grandchildren, Gavin Hensel, Grace Hensel and Chloe Hensel. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Jeffrey D. Holtel. Mr. Holtel was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Holtel was a member of First Christian Church. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Scott officiating.
