Susan G. Kessinger, 75, of Waldron, passed away quietly and peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at her residence with family members present.
She was born February 12, 1940, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the daughter of Ermando J. and Libia C. (Cardosi) Gagetta. She married Richard B. Kessinger on June 21, 1980, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2015.
Susan is survived by her beloved step-son, Brandt Kessinger and wife, Brooke, of Pace, Florida; sisters, Pola Duncan of Costa Mesa, California, Sonia Gage of Winterville, Georgia, and Elsa DePhillips and husband, Randy, of Menifee, CA; grandchildren, Cole and Alaine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Gagetta.
Susan graduated from Danville High School in Danville, Vermont in 1958 and had a bachelor’s of science in criminology.
She formerly worked in security at General Motors, and later in accounting at Indiana Downs, retiring in 2010.
Susan loved attending Shelby Senior Services and playing Mah jongg.
She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, feeding the birds and taking care of her dogs.
Susan also leaves behind three dogs and a cat.
A gathering of friends will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Vermont.
