Sylvia L. Russell, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at her residence.
She was born October 3, 1938, in Marion County, Kentucky, the daughter of Frank and Lizzie (Lindsey) Mann. She married Roy Russell in November of 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1988.
Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey A. Russell and Roy D. “Dwain” Russell, both of Shelbyville; daughter, Carla S. Russell and fiance’, Kevin Craft, of Shelbyville; brothers, Roy Mann and wife, Brenda, of Franklin; sisters, Janet Krise and husband, Larry and Liz “Judy” Geoia, both of Shelbyville and Joyce Sipes and husband, Jerry, of St. Paul; grandchildren, Ashley Russell, Kayla Jacobs and John Jacobs; great-grandson, Layden Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brother and one sister.
Sylvia formerly worked at TRW Cinch from 1963 to 1985; and from Great States American Lawnmower from 1986 until retiring in 2011.
She enjoyed her work and sewing.
Sylvia loved watching her grandchildren.
She also leaves behind her dog, Harley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the funeral home, with Rev. Dennis Hirschauer officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
