Teresa Ann Young, 51, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Doctors Regional Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Born May 25, 1956, in Hartford City, she was the daughter of Ronald K. and Patricia (Evilsizer) Glessner.
Survivors include her son, Ashley Wayne (wife, Deniece) Young of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Jerry (wife, Leona) Glessner of Shelbyville; sisters, Rosalie (husband, Dave) Hardin of Shelbyville and Jacque (husband, Dennis) Parks of Franklin; grandchildren, Jade Young and Crystal Young, both of Oklahoma; 13 nieces and nephews; and 27 great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ms. Young formerly lived in Shelbyville and Lafayette, La.
She had managed Regal Health Spa in Shelbyville in the mid 1980s. She was a neuromuscular therapist and owned and operated Young Bodies in Corpus Christi from the late 1980s to the late 1990s.
Ms. Young was also the originator and manager for Original Rocker Entertainment, primarily dedicated to the promotion of blues legend Rocky Benton, a long-time friend and companion. She was responsible for many fundraising events in Corpus Christi, arranging music fests, including one with BB King, with proceeds going directly to the community.
Ms. Young graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1974, and recently was a full-time student at Texas A&M in Kingsville, majoring in the arts and nearing completion of her master's degree. Her minor was in anthropology.
She was a humanitarian, with a strong focus on the ecology; and abstract artist and sculptor, winning many awards at the university for her paintings, phorography and sculpting.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Bennett officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
