Terry William Coppaway, 64, of Gwynneville, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
He was born July 9, 1949, in St. Mary’s, Missouri, the son of Lawrence William and Della Josephine “Jody” (Mowry) Coppaway. He married Nancy Scharschmidt on November 1, 1985, and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother of Perryville, Missouri; sisters, Linda Wheeler, Connie Beckerman and Lori Coppaway, all of Perryville, Carolyn Garms of St. Peters, Missouri, Marilyn Rooker of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Karen Patton of Winfield, Missouri; brother, Scott Coppaway of Perryville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Terry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for two years.
He retired from truck driving in 2011.
Terry was formerly a professional tennis player and enjoyed sports.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Terry loved ice cream.
