Theron Pleas Dawson

Theron Pleas Dawson, 83, of Manilla, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Morristown Manor in Morristown. He was born May 9, 1930, in Shelbyville, the son of Theron Pleas Sr. and Delphia (Gardner) Dawson. He married Patricia J. Frederick on September 28, 1952, and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2013. Survivors include his daughters, Diana (husband, Norman) Roberts of Avon, Anita Smith of Greenfield and Jane (husband, Jeff) St. John of Manilla; brother, Donald (wife, June) Dawson of Rushville; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Larry Smith. Theron graduated from Manilla High School in 1948. He was a member of the Manilla Christian Church. Mr. Dawson was a lifelong resident of the Shelby County and had been a farmer for many years. He drove a school bus for Shelby Eastern from 1975 to 1979. He enjoyed watching Cincinnati Reds baseball and Indiana University basketball. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Private graveside services will be in Manilla Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Morristown Manor for the wonderful care Theron received.
