Thomas Shaw “Tom” Winterrowd, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born October 25, 1925, in Flat Rock, the son of John Thomas and Elizabeth Corrine (Shaw) Winterrowd. On January 25, 1947, he married Cynthia Doris McGrew, and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2013.
Tom is survived by his sons, John Michael Winterrowd of Thornwille, Ohio and Thomas Aaron Winterrowd of Flat Rock; daughter, Doris Ann Mattiaccy of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Jesse, Joshua, Angie and Cindy; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, William Curtis and Blanche (Hill) Shaw who raised him.
Tom graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1943 and attended Purdue University for two years.
He was a member of West Street United Methodist Church.
Tom was a professional salesman and farmer, retiring from Massey-Ferguson in 1980 and from Indiana Farm Bureau Co-Operative in 1990.
He was also a member of the Norristown Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine, as well as the Past Regional President and member of the Society of American Magicians.
A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Masonic Rites will be recited at 7 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Tom’s life, officiated by Rev. Robert Rohrman, concluding with a presentation of the broken wand.
