Timothy James Jett, 65, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October 30, 1945, in Beech Grove, he was the son of Howard and Mabel (Pierce) Jett. He married Ruthie Dawson on September 14, 1969, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, John Jett of Indianapolis and Doug (wife, Kim) Jett of Shelbyville; brothers, Tom (wife, Anna Lou) Jett and Paul Jett, both of Indianapolis; sisters, Lois (husband, Bill) Baudendistel of Camby and Leila (husband, Max) Smith of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Jett and Allison Jett; grandsons, Kelton Magee and Jarrett Magee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol Marie Jett.
Mr. Jett had resided in Shelby County since 1978.
He graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1963 and from Howard W. Sams Technical School (now ITT) and attended Purdue University.
Mr. Jett was a U.S.Army veteran and served in the Army Reserve and Indiana National Guard.
He retired from Ameritech in 1994 as a technician and later worked for National City Bank/PNC as a data technician.
Mr. Jett was a member of the Marion County Sheriff's Department Horse Patrol, CWA Local No. 4900 and American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs and enjoyed motorcycling, boating, fishing, hunting, guns, NASCAR racing and working on cars.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery.
