Todd Aaron Martin

Todd Aaron Martin, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. He was born February 18, 1943, in Terre Haute, the son of Joseph W. and Nancy “Alice” (Morris) Martin. On January 15, 1967, he married his wife of 47 years, Halcia Cox, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Paul Joseph Martin and wife, Nicole of Connersville; sister, Sharon J. McPherron and husband, Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Logan Neukam, Cole Martin, Kendall Martin and Kaelynn Martin; nephews, Shannon McPherron and wife, Daphne, Conan McPherron and wife, Jacquelin, Colin McPherron and wife, Stephanie, Shane McPherron, Chris Cox and wife, Jenn and Bryan Cox and wife, Amy; sister-in-law, Wilma Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Wayne Cox. Todd graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in Industrial Electronics. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. He had formerly worked for the U.S. Army as a civilian for 10 years. Todd was project manager for Communication Products, Inc. for the last 19 years. He was an active member of Waldron Baptist Church and The Gideons International. Todd loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their many activities. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p .m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the funeral home, with Rev. Alan Small officiating. Interment will be at VanPelt Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside services conducted by the local military committee. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, Tennessee 37214-0800 or in care of the funeral home.
