Todd Wesley Spencer, 40, of New Palestine, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Hancock County.
He was born July 16, 1976 in Shelbyville, the son of Charles Edward “Chuck” and Deena Beth (Oldham) Spencer.
Todd is survived by his grandmother, Darleen Oldham of Shelbyville; daughter, Kaitlynn “Katie Bug” Spencer of Greenfield; brothers, Scott Spencer of Indianapolis, Matthew Spencer of Shelbyville, Ryan Collins of New Palestine and Brian Kingery of Indianapolis; nephew, Ethan Spencer of Shelbyville; life partner, Courtney Vogel and children, Colin and Lilly, of Indianapolis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandfather, Bob Oldham; and paternal grandparents, Lowell and Betty Spencer.
Todd attended Morristown High School. He received his CPR certification, as well as other licenses and certifications pertaining to his career.
He was a member of Shelbyville Community Church and American Legion Post No. 102 in Morristown.
Todd worked at Stanley Black and Decker in Greenfield in the maintenance department.
He loved to be a caregiver. He cherished the times he spent with his family, most importantly, his “Katie Bug”, whether they were practicing for or he was attending her sporting events or he was teaching her how to drive a car.
Todd attended and participated in the Saul to Paul Ministries, after which he became an ordained minister and counselor. He was also a sponsor for Narcotics Anonymous in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kaitlynn Spencer College Fund, in care of the funeral home.
