Trudy V. Collins, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Major Hospital. She was born April 6, 1935, in Carthage, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (McGhee) Andis. Trudy married Robert Charles Collins in 1968, and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2004. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn “Cotton” Chandler of Shelbyville and Gayle (husband, Pete) Wilder of Forks, Washington; son, Kevin (wife, Elaine) Polston of Shelbyville; sisters, Helen McMillen of Brownstown, Betty Evern of Elkhart and Jean Tilson of Rushville; brother, Sonny (wife, Rita) Andis of Economy; grandsons, Rob Hankins and Bill Hankins; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Fred Chandler and John Edward Polston; sister, Louise Andis; and brothers, Virgil Andis and George Andis. Trudy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She retired from KCL Corporation in 1997, after over 30 years of service. Trudy loved to dance and fish. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the funeral home, with Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Interment will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Association of Shelby County, P.O. Box 844, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
