Virginia Lee Carmony, 89, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, at Imperial Point Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Born February 15, 1920, in Greenfield, she was the daughter of William and Dorothy (Pitts) Nigh. She married Byron M. Carmony on September 9, 1941, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2007.
Survivors include her children, Marta (husband, Ron) Williams of Pompano Beach, Kevin (wife, Sue) Carmony of Seattle, Washington, and Judy (husband, John) spotora of Chicago Heights, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Nigh; and sister, Betty Tribby.
Mrs. Carmony ws formerly employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Indianapolis, retiring in 1991. Prior to that she worked at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois and Judson College in Elgin, Illinois.
She graduated from Morristown High School in 1938 and attended Olivet Nazarene College (now a university) in Bourbonnais, Illinois for one year.
Mrs. Carmony was a member of Morristown Church of the Nazarene, where she was active in the Nazarene Women's Missionary Society and had been the church organist for many years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Morristown Church of the Nazarene, 554 E. Highway 52, Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Kenneth Sparks and Howard Robbins officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
