Virginia J. Carmony Perry, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
She was born April 3, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Clyde and Lillian (Plumlee) Headrick. On June 13, 1951, she married her husband of 55 years, C. Duane Carmony, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2006. She married Glenn Perry on June 26, 2010, and he survives.
In addition to Glenn, Virginia is survived by her sons, Terry D. Carmony and wife, Connie, of Shelbyville, and Timothy A. Carmony and wife, Marianne, of San Padre Island, Texas; daughter, Brenda S. (Carmony) Lawson of Greenwood; brother, Creed Headrick of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Todd A. Carmony and wife, Staci, Jordan A. Carmony and wife, LaTasha, Amanda Lawson (Holly Stover), and Joseph T. Lawson III; great-grandchildren, Tyler A. Carmony, Jaden Carmony and Logan Carmony; step-daughters, Maurine McQueary and husband, Tom, and Glenna Stocklin and husband, Sam, both of Shelbyville, and Ethel Kimbrough and husband, Larry, of Indianapolis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Virginia graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga in 1949.
She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.
Virginia loved to decorate her home and enjoyed gardening.
She also enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Florida.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
