Virginia “Jinky” Craft, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
She was born March 21, 1936, in Milan, the daughter of Walter F. and Mabel L. (Butt) Voss. On August 14, 1960, she married her husband of 55 years, Earl Raymond “Ray” Craft, and he survives.
Jinky is also survived by her daughter, Sue Ellen Sutherlin and husband, Rod, of Fishers; son, Mark Craft of Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Ellie Brinkman of Greendale; brother, Paul Voss and wife, Sheryl, of Batesville; sister-in-law, Emily Voss of Milan; grandchildren, Cole Sutherlin, Kylie Sutherlin, Jamie Craft, Gregory Craft, Jada Craft, Alyssa Craft and Bryce Craft; great-grandchild, Brayton Craft; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hank Voss; and a sister, Esther Voss.
Jinky graduated from Milan High School in 1954; obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Franklin College and Master’s degree from Butler University.
She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Craft was an elementary school teacher for 34 years, retiring in 1994. She taught at Greensburg, Milan, Kirklin and Shelbyville.
She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
Jinky enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She also enjoyed her flowers. She loved doing things with and for her grandchildren.
A gathering of friends will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
A memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the church, with Rev. Mark Morningstar officiating.
