Virginia Lee “Ginny” Kellems, 79, of Waldron, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at her residence.
She was born November 20, 1935, in Batesville, the daughter of Anthony and Bernice (Bare) Vierling. She married Herbert Kellems on February 4, 1956, and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1969.
Virginia is survived by her mother of Shelbyville; son, Daniel Kellems of Waldron; daughter, Nancy Scudder of Shelbyville; sisters, Sue Barnhardt and husband, Mike, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Terri Taggert and husband, Mike of Shelbyville, and Dixie Voegele of Batesville; brothers, William Vierling and wife, Margaret, of Fort Pierce, Florida, James Vierling and Gary Vierling and wife, Sue, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jodi, Jeremy, Jarod and fiance’, Danielle, Noah and Tristen; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Dakota, Faith-Ann, Joshua and Gavin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her father; son, David Kellems; sister, Barbara Walsman; and brothers, Jack Vierling, Don Vierling and Richard Vierling.
Virginia graduated from Batesville High School in 1953.
She was a waitress at Cagney’s for over 20 years, retiring in November of 2014.
Virginia enjoyed sewing, gardening and working puzzles.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
