Virginia Lee "Ginny" Merrell Anderson

Virginia Lee “Ginny” Merrell Anderson, 74, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born February 4, 1939, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, the daughter of Leroy G. and Callie I. (Beavers) Merrell. She married Richard E. Anderson on June 27, 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2007. Survivors include her son, Jeffrey A. Anderson of Morristown; sister, Gayle (husband, Jesse) Pieper of New Palestine; and a brother, Richard (wife, April) Merrell of Hebron, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilma Davis and Laverne Reinertsen; and a brother, Scott Merrell. Ginny graduated from Morristown High School in 1956 and attended International Business College. She was a member of Morristown Methodist Church and was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 102 in Morristown. Ginny formerly worked at International Barbers and Beauticians Union, and then she worked as a legal secretary for R. D. Jones until retirement. After retiring, she worked at the Bluebird Restaurant. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed quilting and playing games, especially bridge. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Auxiliary Post 102, 339 W. Main St., Morristown, Indiana 46161 or Morristown Methodist Church, 221 S. Washington St., Morristown, Indiana 46161.
