Virginia M. Vrooman, 87 of Gilbert, Arizona, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Greenfield Assisted Living in Gilbert.
Born December 31, 1924, in Prescott, Indiana, she was the daughter of John L. and Rose (Cord) Runnebohm. She was preceded in death by husbands Paul Hatten and G. Jim Vrooman.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (husband, John) Wiley of Indianapolis and Beverly (husband, Fred) Aldous of Gilbert; brothers, Nick Runnebohm and Steve Runnebohm, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Alice Cossairt of Shelbyville, Margie Long of Greenfield and Janice Crane of Greensburg; grandchildren, Steve Wiley of Beech Grove, Sara Wiley of St. Paul, Minnesota, Susan Blosser of Indianapolis and Rachael James of Phoenix, Arizona; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herb Runnebohm, Bob Runnebohm and Dan Runnebohm and a sister, Mary Hauk.
Mrs. Vrooman was a homemaker and a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital for 12 years from 1995 until 2007. She also enjoyed playing golf.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1943.
Mrs. Vrooman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville and Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with the rosary recited at 3:30 pm.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with Father Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Interment will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
