Walter D. Carter, 74, of Morristown, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at Morristown Manor, Morristown. Born April 1, 1935, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Harry K. and Annie M. (Dunn) Carter, Sr. Survivors include his sister, Dora (husband, Max) Scott of Morristown; brothers, Harvey (wife, Olena) Carter, James Carter, Ralph (wife, Connie) Carter and Harry Carter, Jr., all of Shelbyville and John Carter of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sarah Maynard. Mr. Carter lived most of his life in Shelbyville. He was formerly employed as a weigh master for Fairbanks Morris Inc. in Indianapolis. Mr. Carter loved fishing, hunting, camping and photography. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. David Martin officiating. Interment will be in Miller Cemetery, with military rites conducted.. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
