Wanda Lee Fox, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.
She was born May 5, 1932, in Gwynneville, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Keaton) Pollitt. She married John Lee Fox on January 11, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2013.
Wanda is survived by her son, John C. Fox and wife, Karen of Shelbyville; daughters, Jana Everhart and husband, Teddy, of Shelbyville and Melina Fox and husband, Bob White, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Matthew Fox, Justin Fox, Ted Everhart, Vanessa Stewart and Trisha Fox-Rupert and husband, Rick; and great-grandchildren, Jimmie Gruss, Nathan Everhart, Claire Fox and Reagan Fox.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mara Fox; and sister, Mary Lou Stanton.
Wanda was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Morristown High School in 1950.
Wanda was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Evan Bayh. She was the first woman elected as the county chairman of the Democrat Committee. She served 10 years on the state Democratic Committee, and was District second vice chairwoman.
She was formerly president of the Shelby County Extension Homemakers. Wanda served on the Shelby County Fairboard as second vice president.
Wanda was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, and served as vice region.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
