Wayne A. Miller, 85, of Boggstown passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his residence.
Born August 13, 1926, in Shelby County, he was the son of Howard C. and Mary (Sedgwick) Miller. He married Ruth (Fisher) Lukehart on July 15, 1989, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Linda (husband, Mike) Perkinson of Boggstown and Nancy (husband, Roger) Justice of Greenfield; sons, Richard Miller and Howard (wife, Lisa) Miller, both of Shelbyville; step-daughter and step-sons, Sherry Kennon, Scott Lukehart, Michael (wife, Lori) Lukehart and Daniel (wife, Rachel) Lukehart, all of Iowa; sister, Martha Tucker of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Nathan Perkinson, Craig Perkinson, Cherissia Allman, Crystal Jones, Kelly Miller, Lucinda Miller, Ronnie Miller, Brent Miller, Ashley Morgan and Alisha McVey; 12 great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence Taylor, Mildred Perry, Dorothy Weaver and Virginia Shelton; and brothers, Earl Miller, Gerald Miller, Roland Miller, Garnet Miller and Donald Miller.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong Shelby County resident, living on the same farm in Sugar Creek Township for 69 years.
He was a farmer, winning several conservation awards, including the life-time achievement award from ASCS.
Mr. Miller graduated from Fairland High School in 1944 and was a member of Fairland Baptist Church.
He enjoyed attending high school basketball games, traveling, walking and reading, as he was a progressive, continual learner. He also collected John Deere memorabilia.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, January 13, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor John Alexander officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
