Willard Wray "Bill" Engle, 71, of Gwynneville died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his home, after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 26, 1935, in Decoy, Ky., he was the son of Jerry M. and Rosa (Slone) Engle. He married Janis Walker on Nov. 15, 1963, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Carl W. (wife, Suzanne) Engle of Gwynneville; stepgrandson, Christopher Dinkelacker; and special friend, Robin Carlton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Engle had been employed with U.A. 669 Fire Protection for more than 29 years, retiring in 1991.
He graduated from Knott County High School in 1951 and from Caney Creek Community College, both in Kentucky.
Mr. Engle was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Morristown Masonic Lodge No. 193 F&AM where he was a past master, Order of Eastern Star No. 316, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Morristown American Legion. He also was a past chapter dad of Rainbow Girls in Morristown and past advisor of DeMolay in Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ted Hagel officiating.
Interment will be in Hanover Cemetery in Shelby County.
