William A. Heck, 91, of Indianapolis died Friday, December 19, 2008, at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield.
Born June 27, 1917, in Indianapolis, he was the son of William M. and Grace (Salig) Heck. He married Edna Johnson on July 10, 1943, and she preceded hin in death on December 28, 2000.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (wife, Cyndy) Heck of Morristown and Richard Heck of Indianapolis; brother, Charles Heck of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pattie Brittain; sister, Louise Abrams; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Heck resided in Indianapolis most of his life.
He retired from John J. Madden Furniture Upholstery Co. in 1976. He also worked with Warren Township School Corp. and enoyed 40 years as custodian with the Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis and Bethany Christian Church in Beech Grove.
Mr. Heck was a Boy Scout leader.
He was a member of Morristown Christian Churh and taught Sunday school for several years.
Mr. Heck was an avid sports fan, loved baseball and played catcher for the minor leagues in the 1930s.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
